Nearly all US universities and colleges are beautiful...this is Fordham's campus in the Bronx.

About Us

The US application process can be complicated. The idea behind this website is to provide a resource for Dubai College students and their parents that will remove some of their uncertainty, and hopefully act as a guide throughout the entire process. If you notice errors, or have gained any insights from your own experience that I have not covered, I'd love to hear from you.  To get started, click on the navigation pane in the top left hand corner and follow the links!

Who Am I

I am Jonathan Tate. I first came to Dubai College as an art teacher at the beginning of 2008 - and this is still a significant part of my role at the school. In the context of this website, I am DC's US Applications Counselor and Head of Year 12.

History

When I joined the Sixth Form team in 2009, the role of US applications Counselor did not exist. I was encouraged by the then Head of Sixth Form, Nick Jones to explore the differences between US and our predominantly UK focused applications. Over the years I have slowly gained greater knowledge and experience of these significant differences and I continue to learn with each passing year. I am a member of IACAC (http://www.internationalacac.org/) and attended their annual conferences in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019. I have visited many US universities independently and as part of tours organised specifically for 'High School Counselors,' and while I am not presumptuous enough to consider myself infallible in my expertise, I have a good depth and breadth of knowledge, a growing network of contacts in US university admissions offices, and a certainty that if I don't have the answer to hand, I know how and where to find it!
